There are many things that are overrated, even if they aren't considered "mainstream". Many of them are liked because it's socially acceptable, or they are afraid that without their approval of this said thing, they will be rejected or looked down upon. I try not to dislike or like something just because someone that affects me has a positive opinion about it, even though I've done it before. Here are some things I just find overrated:
1. Wicked, the play. I went to see it in New York City and paid way more than necessary. The singing was okay, besides a couple of songs that I thoroughly enjoyed, the acting wasn't horrible, and the storyline was completely mundane. Perhaps it was combined with the factor of my fatigue, but, nevertheless, I enjoyed La Cage Aux Folles much more and paid, by far, less money for those two tickets.
2. (500) Days of Summer. I see the point and the "lesson" you learn, and the humorous bit at the end, but still, I do not see why it is considered so great. I liked it, and I would watch it again, but that doesn't mean I necessarily consider it my favorite movie. The acting was good, and the nonlinear narrative structure is something I will always remember; however, I think that it wasn't my "type" of movie. One thing I ABSOLUTELY adore is the soundtrack. The Smiths, Regina Spektor, Hall & Oates... The euphoria finally melts in.
3. Ignorance. Yes, yes, it is repetitive, but I'm not only talking about intolerance towards race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I'm also talking about people who are so self-absorbed or clueless that they don't understand other people. Even the most simple things, like an opinion: you have to understand other people's opinions, even if you don't agree with it. Listening is one of the hardest things to do, and if you can accomplish that, then that's great.
Unfortunately, many people can't. Another form of ignorance that is absolutely repulsive is when people don't think they have the capacity to attain something, so they start bashing it. Like learning another language: I've been actually "teased" for knowing French. Most of the time, I just think it's because those people are so ignorant towards this that they think that English is the only language you will ever have to comprehend, even if the level of it is so ridiculously low. Or, when people are disrespectful towards teachers, because they just don't want to listen. How about the other people participating in this course?
I don't think anybody will really write anything, but, if there is anything you find overrated, please write it below. Or if you disagree with something I said, please elaborate.

Consistence of desire would be the only way to describe my physical yearning for the multiple streets lining the coast and the insanity. Each time, my chest feels pushes in with air and my entire torso acquires some sort of bizarre awaiting feeling; not quite hunger, but I can hear my soul salivating to be prominent among the millions of others bouncing on your pavement, laden with deteriorating chewed gum and numerous marks of frustration. Running away would be an option, but with momentous consequences... Therefore, I sit and wait, with the utter persistent hope of once achieving the reality that could come true.
